‘Tuesdays at Townsend’ concert series continues July 20
The Murrysville Recreation Department’s “Tuesdays at Townsend” free outdoor concert series will continue with a performance by Detention.
It will be from 6:30-8 p.m. July 20 at the park, 130 Townsend Park Court in Murrysville.
Food will be available from the Mobile Chef, and beverages from Sobel’s Obscure Brewery.
Additional shows next month include Miss Freddye on Aug. 3 and The Luke Weltz Band on Aug. 17.

Delmont Recreation Board hosts Family Fun Night on July 17
The Delmont Recreation Board will host another “Family Fun Night” beginning at 5 p.m., July 17 at Newhouse Park.
The evening will begin with live music by the Phisbins, with food from the Earth Wheel & Fire food truck, refreshments from Yellow Bridge and White Valley Distillery and Kona Ice.
Bring a lawn chair or blanket and relax during the music, which will be followed at dusk by a showing of the 1984 comedy classic “Ghostbusters.” The park’s concession stand will also be open with popcorn, drinks and candy.

Newhouse Park is on Newhouse Park Road, off of Stotler Drive in Delmont.
‘Pipeline Purge’ race set for July 17 at Townsend Park
The Townsend Pipeline Purge rafe will take place July 17 for runners 16 and older, to see how many 1-mile laps they can run through Townsend Park’s trails in two hours.
The event will begin at 7:30 a.m., with a post-race party including Sly Fox Brewery. The cost is $40 per runner. Forty registration spots were remaining as of July 8.
It is hosted by the Murrysville Recreation Department, which is seeking sponsorships and volunteers for the event. For more, call 724-327-2100, ext. 131.

Hills Church pastor to host ‘Send Your Child’ community meeting
Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ (Hill’s Church) will host an Aug. 4 community meeting at 7 p.m., called “Send Your Child,” for parents or grandparents preparing to send a child back to college, back to school in the fall, or into the working world.
Pastor Joseph Hedden, parent to two teens, will facilitate the discussion that touches on ways to prepare both your child and yourself for those next steps.
Hedden will provide tips to help manage anxieties and concerns.

Delmont Christmas Pilgrimage planning meeting
Organizers for the annual Delmont Christmas Pilgrimage will hold a lighting planning meeting at 7 p.m., July 13 at the Delmont Public Library.
Anyone with experience in lighting and sound who is interested in volunteering is asked to attend, to help plan for the 2021 “Christmas in Salem Crossroads” event.
The library is at 75 School Street in Delmont.
Backyard composting workshop set for July 14
The Pennsylvania Resource Council will host a July 14 backyard composting workshop, and participants can receive a composting bin following the class.
It will be at 7 p.m. on the Zoom platform. Distribution of the bins will take place July 16 at the Murrysville municipal building, 4100 Sardis Road.

TOPS group resumes weekly meetings
The Delmont chapter of Taking Off Pounds Sensibly, or TOPS, has resumed weekly meetings at 2:30 p.m. Tuesdays at Delmont Presbyterian Church, at 101 Church St.
The nonprofit weight support group is open to anyone, and prospective new members are invited to attend a meeting and learn about the program.

Franklin Regional cheer fundraiser on Saturday
A car wash and hoagie sale fundraiser for Franklin Regional cheerleaders will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday at Advanced Auto Parts, 4010 William Penn Highway in Murrysville.
Cheerleaders will accept donations for hand-washing of cars, and hoagies from Triangle Bar & Grill will be available for $7.
Delmont Historical Society meeting
The Delmont Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. July 26 at the community room in the Delmont Public Library.
