Five students each from Franklin Regional Intermediate School and Franklin Regional Middle School were chosen to participate in the fifth- and sixth-grade Westmoreland County Band Festival on March 25 at Wendover Middle School.

FR performers joined students from 12 other school districts to perform a concert for families.

Participants included Evelyn Makosey, Emily Wang, Kaylee Keefe, McKenna Libell, Alex Ralston, Kelsey McGee, Lucy Helbig, Alyse Mooney, Jovie Azzolina and Madeleine Kiehl.

The Delmont Visionary Committee and Lilja’s Pizza partnered on a “Make Your Own Pizza” fundraiser for the committee earlier this year.

Children were able to design and cook their own pizza, with proceeds benefiting the nonprofit committee, which meets on the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the Delmont Public Library on School Street.

Ryan Bonomo, a student at Franklin Regional, took first place in the cybersecurity competition at the Region 11 Virtual Future Business Leaders of America Conference earlier this year.

Student Caleb Anthony took third place. Bonomo will move forward to the state level of competition.

Sarah Kim of Bolivar was one of 52 Albright College students who presented scholarly work at the 23rd annual Berks County Undergraduate Research and Creativity (HECBC) Conference on April 23.

A fashion and costume design major, Kim’s presentation was titled, “Women’s Costume: The Effect of World War II on Women’s Clothing” with Joycelyn Burdett.
