North Allegheny set to celebrate Homecoming
The Tigers Marching Band will lead a parade around the North Allegheny Senior High as part of a pregame Homecoming festival on Oct. 7.
The community is invited to attend the carnival fun beginning at 4:45 p.m. at the NASH campus, located on 10375 Perry Highway. The event will feature food trucks and games, face painting, and other family-friendly activities, according to Justin Karolski, the NASH student council advisor.
The parade, representing 18 different student organizations in the district, will begin at 5:40 p.m., led by the North Allegheny Tiger March Band. The theme is “Around the World,” complete with floats, and will lap two times around the high school, Karolski said.
“It’s a fantastic family event,” he said. “There’s plenty to do when you get there.”
The home game against Mt. Lebanon begins at 7:30 p.m. at Newman Stadium, on the NASH campus, with the North Allegheny High School Homecoming king and queen announced at half time, said Karolski, who teaches technology and engineering at NASH.
The couple is chosen out of 22 nominees, 11 students for king and 11 students for queen, Karolski said. Ten student organizations in the high school each are allowed to nominate one candidate for king and one for queen. One candidate for king and queen are each nominated at-large.
The seniors voted electronically last week, with the big announcement set at game’s halftime.
Those who come to the pregame festival don’t have to attend the game. Football tickets cost $8 per adult and $5 per student.
The North Allegheny Intermediate JROTC will assist in parking. There are two large lots, and Karolski recommends arriving early.
The student council takes the lead in planning homecoming weekend.
Homecoming dances for students only will be held on Oct. 8 at both the senior and intermediate high schools.
Tickets for the game can be ordered at the gate or online through the school at www.northallegheny.org .
