The Michael Mackie Project, a new nonprofit committed to creating inclusive and adaptive experiences for children with disabilities, announces its inaugural community event.
MVP: Michael’s Victory Players an Adaptive Football Experience will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 19 at the Pine Athletic Complex, 100 Pine Park Drive.
Held in partnership with Pine-Richland United Youth Football and Cheer, along with the Pine-Richland High School football program, the free event will provide children of all abilities with the opportunity to participate in a football skills clinic tailored to meet diverse needs in an encouraging, inclusive and high-energy environment.
Named in honor of 5-year-old Michael Mackie, who has multiple disabilities, the nonprofit was founded by his family to ensure all youngsters have access to typical childhood experiences such sports, friendship and community fun.
“This is about creating a space where all kids can play, grow and feel celebrated,” said township Supervisor Audrey Mackie, founder of the Michael Mackie Project. “We believe inclusion isn’t just a value; it’s a practice. And we’re starting right here, with football.”
The event will feature:
• Adaptive football drills and activities;
• One-on-one coaching by local athletes and volunteers;
• Special guest appearances;
• Music, refreshments and community cheer;
• Volunteer and community partner engagement.
