A newborn fawn that appeared to have been abandoned Sunday in a patch of grass along Woodbine Street in Stanton Heights drew plenty of interest from residents out for a walk.
After several hours of barely moving, the tiny, fragile deer limped to a nearby deck where it waited patiently for several more hours until its mother show up.
When the doe finally emerged from a nearby wooded area nearly eight hours later, the fawn’s ears perked up and it began bleating to get her attention.
But rather than lead the tiny animal away, the doe left it on the deck, where it appeared to be safe from predators.
Several minutes later, the fawn scampered back into the treeline, where it was reunited with its mother.
