News briefs: Christmas at Plum Creek event canceled amid rising covid-19 infection rate
Christmas at Plum Creek, originally scheduled for Dec. 3 at Plum Creek Park along New Texas Road, has been canceled.
Due to the rise in infection rates and the state and county guidance on public events, borough officials made the decision Nov. 25 to forgo the event until next year.
Blood drive planned
A blood drive is planned for 2 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 9 at the Oakmont borough building, 767 Fifth St.

Glass recycling set
Glass recycling dumpsters will be placed at the Second Street parking lot at Riverside Park and at the Creekside Park parking lot from Dec. 7 through Dec. 18.
Items accepted include glass bottles, jars and jugs. Cut glass, stemware, glass bakeware, porcelain ceramics, window glass, light bulbs, televisions and monitors will not be accepted.

Workshop meeting planned
Plum council will have its workshop meeting at 7 p.m. on Dec. 7 at the borough building, 4575 New Texas Road.
Budget workshop set
Plum School District will have a budget workshop at 6 p.m. on Dec. 8 at the high school, 900 Elicker Road.
It could be changed to a virtual meeting. More information is available at pbsd.net.
