The scene of the crash involving a school bus carrying elementary school students from the Moon Area School District Monday afternoon.

Moon Area School District elementary students were safe and accounted for after their bus crashed with another vehicle in Moon Township on Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

At 3:48 p.m., first responders were dispatched to the intersection of Montour Run Road and FedEx Drive for the crash, according to the Valley Ambulance Authority.

Paramedics and EMTs from multiple agencies evaluated and treated McCormick Elementary School students and staff on scene. No students needed to be taken to the hospital, according to the authority.

Four students were treated at the scene, said Kasey Reigner, spokeswoman for the Allegheny County Emergency Services.

“Today’s response reflects the professionalism and preparedness of our regional public safety partners,” said Brian D. Herskovitz, chief of EMS at the Valley Ambulance Authority. “We are grateful for the rapid coordination among law enforcement, fire and EMS personnel that ensured the safety of all involved.”

It’s unclear what led to the crash. Moon Township police are investigating.

Also Monday afternoon, a school bus crashed into a home along Rainbow Run Road in Forward Township. In that incident, it appears the driver was the only one on the bus.
