North Allegheny gearing up for annual homecoming festivities Oct. 3
It’s almost time to come home to North Allegheny for its annual homecoming football game Oct. 3, which will pit the Tigers against Mt. Lebanon at 7:30 p.m. at Newman Stadium on the high school campus, 10375 Perry Highway.
The event will feature food trucks, various games and other family-friendly activities, according to Justin Karolski, the NASH technology education teacher and student activities director.
“Homecoming week at NA is an exciting time for students to build on their school spirit and feel a part of the NA community. The whole week is packed with fun events, including a spirit week, a parade — themed “Night at the Movies — prior to the football game from 5:30 to 6 p.m. on the NASH campus, the homecoming court during the halftime show and the homecoming dances at NAI and NASH,” Karolski said.
Various student organizations from the district will be featured in the parade with the North Allegheny Tiger Marching Band leading the procession.
About 3,500 typically attend, according to Karolski, who recommends “car pooling and arriving early.”
Members of North Allegheny’s Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps will assist the North Allegheny Police Department with parking.
Homecoming court candidates were announced in the student newspaper, The Uproar, and online at nashuproar.org. The crowning of king and queen will take place during the game’s halftime.
“Student council has been hard at work planning since early summer to make the event the best one yet,” Karolski said.
The 28th annual Hall of Fame Banquet will be held Oct. 2. It honors former student-athletes, coaches and administrators for athletic excellence, according to the North Allegheny Athletics website.
The North Allegheny Hall of Fame Association and North Allegheny Athletic Department announced the Hall of Fame Class of 2025 in August, and a list of honorees is posted at athletics.northallegheny.org.
The student-only dances at the intermediate and senior high schools will be held Oct. 3.
Tickets for the game can be purchased via athletics.northallegheny.org. They will be $8 at the gate.
