North Allegheny Trick or Trot ’24 outpaces previous years
The annual Trick or Trot to benefit the North Allegheny Foundation had its best year yet.
The 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run was held Oct. 26 at the Marshall elementary and middle school campus.
“We made nearly $40,000, a record for the Trick or Trot. We are so thankful to the NA community for supporting this fundraising event for the past 11 years,” said Bill Mascari, secretary for the North Allegheny Foundation.
In addition to the races, North Allegheny cheerleaders and members of the marching band performed in costume at the event.
More than 200 people participated in the 5K and 340 in the mile run, according to the race results. A total of 650 registered.
About one-third of racers were younger than 12, and each child received a special trick-or-treat bag to collect candy along the fun nun, Mascari said.
Certificates are given to the top male and female 5 K racers and to the top runner of each age group.
This year’s first-place female for the 5K was Samantha Strelick, and Sergey Seroshtanov was the top male.
The nonprofit North Allegheny Foundation is a 23-member, tax-exempt charitable community organization that supports the school district, teachers, staff and students.
The foundation focuses on three missions: grants to NA teachers and staff, scholarships to NA students and making community connections. Trick or Trot is one of four major fundraisers for the foundation, along with Taste of NA, the Golf Classic and Distinguished Alumni Gala.
