The draft of the zoning and SALDO ordinances for Marshall Township will be reviewed at an open house on Jan. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Marshall Township Municipal Building’s lower level.
The municipal building is located at 525 Pleasant Hill Road.
The meeting is part of the township’s Zoning and Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO), update process.
“The open house is an opportunity for the public to learn about the proposed changes to the ordinances and provide feedback,” said Julie Bastianini, manager for Marshall Township.
An updated zoning ordinance will provide greater clarity and predictability for developers and property owners by setting clear guidelines for land use and development, according to Bastianini.
This will help reduce the confusion and uncertainty for those who want to invest in the community and preserve the landscapes outlined in the comprehensive plan.
This is part of Milestone Four designed for the plan. The fourth milestone is the public review process, Bastianini said.
“Feedback received at the open house will be used to revise the plan as needed,” she said.
The planning commission will review the plan as a next step. There will be separate meetings with the planning commission and board of supervisors, she said.
There are five milestones listed in the timeline of the ordinance update, which will play out over a 24-month period, according to planmarshall.org.
Public engagement workshops and other meetings are part of the process. A Route 910 stakeholder meeting was held in August at the municipal building where more than 100 people discussed potential zoning changes to the area along Route 910. Traffic, noise, and safety remain the top concerns for area, according to the plan posted at planmarshall.org.
