Members of Pittsburgh’s Brazilian community will host a celebration of their country’s music, food and culture on Oct. 4 from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Rose Barn in North Park.

The Sixth Annual Brazilian Day event will feature traditional foods including feijoada, brigadeiro and caipirinha prepared by Casa Brasil and other vendors.

Music will be provided by artists including Kenia, Lilly Abreu and Timbeleza. There also will be a “capoeira” performance, which is a combination of dance and mixed martial arts. There also will be a variety of games and activities for kids.

“Every year for the past six years, the Brazilian community has put together a Brazilian Day event where there is music, food, entertainment and more to celebrate Brazilian culture and bring the Pittsburgh community together,” said Monica Snyder, a North Hills resident and Chatham University student who is helping to organize this year’s event.

The celebration will include raffle baskets with the proceeds going to Project Amazonas, a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and serving the people and forest of the Amazon Rainforest.

Tickets cost $15 per person or $25, which includes a traditional Brazilian black bean stew called feijoada prepared by the Casa Brasil restaurant.

Family tickets — two adults and two children 13 or younger — cost $30 or $60 with feijoada.

More information and tickets are available online.
