Allstate owners donate $5K, some helping hands, to spruce up softball fields in North Hills
The North Hills Athletic Association has received A $5,000 grant — and some helping hands — from six Pittsburgh-area Allstate agency owners to cleanup and improve the softball fields it uses.
The Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grant will be used to improve three softball fields, repair fencing and plant foliage.
The agency owners and employees recently joined members of the association to clean and repair the fields.
In addition to their work repairing softball fields, Allstate volunteers also collected new and gently used softball equipment for a Pittsburgh youth city league that is in need of equipment.
Thanks to the generosity of community members, the youth city league will be receiving dozens of softball bats, cleats, gloves and softballs.
“As a softball coach and mother of young athletes, safety is very important to me,” said agency owner Dana Richter. “When I noticed that local softball fields needed repairs, I knew I had to do something. My fellow Allstate agency owners stepped up to the plate and immediately raised their hands to help.”
The North Hills Athletic Association is one of several thousand organizations that received grants from the Allstate Foundation.
In addition to Richter, the local Allstate owners and employees who participated in the project are:
Bill Baldy, Janie Garcia, Marty Randal, Jo Snider and Scott Snider.
