A charity car cruise to benefit Animal Friends will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11 on the La Roche University campus in McCandless.

The event will feature a variety of classic, antique, exotic and collectible vehicles as well as food and raffles.

A number of dogs available for adoption will be at the event.

The entry fee is $5 or a donation of a new toy or treats.

Guests can bring leashed dogs to the event and try out an agility course provided by Steel City Canine for a $1 donation.

Alexis Carrion, who is organizing the car cruise, said she hopes the event will help people gain a greater appreciation for the often misunderstood pit bull breed.

“I decided to have this event because owning a pit bull has made me realize even more how discriminated against they are,” she said. “This breed needs to be recognized for all of their amazing qualities and they need our support.”

The university is located at 9000 Babcock Boulevard.
