Democrats sweep North Hills School Board election, returning 3 of 4 incumbents

Three incumbents are among four Democrats won seats on the North Hills School Board in Tuesday’s election, according to unofficial Allegheny County election results.

Democratic board members Allison Mathis, Mike Santucci and Sandra Kozera kept their seats. Also elected was Democratic newcomer Anthony Hall.

Board member Elizabeth Nease, on the ballot as a Republican, lost her bid for reelection along with Republican newcomers John Hoffman, Dana Merlino and James Weiss.

All of the candidates had been cross-filed for the primary, appearing on each party ballot, except for Weiss, who was on the Republican ballot only.

The primary had erased all cross-filing, producing the slates of four Democrats and four Republicans vying for the four seats up this year on the nine-member board.

Vote counts according to unofficial Allegheny County election results:

• Mike Santucci (D): 8,834

• Allison Mathis (D): 8,652

• Sandra Kozera (D): 8,243

• Anthony Hall (D): 7,792

• Elizabeth Nease (R): 4,979

• Dana Merlino (R): 4,749

• John Hoffman (R): 4,545

• James Weiss (R): 4,470
