West View residents are invited to the grand opening for a new multi-purpose community facility called the HUB from 6 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

“We are a one-stop spot for the community: a library, food pantry, technology center and much more,” said Scott Pavlot, who initiated the project while working closely with various agencies, businesses and organizations that are connected to West View. “We wanted to do something to make a difference in this community.”

The HUB is located in the former PNC Bankat 435 Perrysville Avenue next to the West View Borough Building.

Organizers took advantage of the former bank’s unique architecture — a reading room for children was created inside the old bank vault.

A children’s theater also was created using the interior of an actual Boeing 727 jet that was purchased after a Netflix series was filmed in the Pittsburgh area.

“We encourage everyone to stop by our grand opening to see this new addition to a very special community,” Pavlot said.”
