If Light Up Night isn’t your jam, that doesn’t mean having to hide in the house all weekend! Here are some other events to attend, sans twinkly trees and super-cold temps.
Record Convention Fall Show

The event will bring together a variety of vendors selling all the media you can handle, from vinyl to CDs to cassette tapes. Lots of memorabilia, posters and more will also be on offer. From the ’60s to new releases, from psychedelic rock to soul to grunge to jazz, you’ll discover those rare finds and old favorites at the convention.
Admission is $10 from 8 to 10 a.m., free from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at West View Banquet Hall in West View on Saturday. To learn more, visit www.facebook.com/ThePittsburghRecordCdConvention.
Classical piano and fashion
There will be a presentation of classical piano artists, designers and fashion archivists collaborating for “MOONLIGHT, An Enchanting Evening of Classical Piano & the Art of Fashion.”
The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday at CAVO in the Strip District. Produced by chair Tara Rieland and honorary chair Karin Legato — who, with her late husband James Legato, owned Emphatics, a high-end clothing and accessories boutique that was in Downtown Pittsburgh for decades — the stylish event will feature piano artists, including international award-winning classical pianist Beatrice Khor.
Designers include John Gurman, Michael Nolan Koury, Amanda Vereb, Heather Bond and Elaine Healy. There will also be archival fashion from Eons Fashion Antique in Shadyside and private collections.
The event benefits the City Music Center of Duquesne University. Funds will be specifically for piano education and performances.
The show is presented by Emphatica Consulting and Solich Piano & Music.
Tickets start at $60.54. See details at moonlight-event.eventbrite.com.
‘Little Women’ at City Theatre
The March family is marching onto the stage at City Theatre on the South Side in this rolling world premiere play. Now, this new adaptation by Lauren Gunderson puts Alcott and her immortal characters onstage together in parallel stories.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday at City Theatre on the South Side. If you can’t make it this weekend, the show runs through Dec. 13. Learn more at citytheatrecompany.org.
Steve Martin and Martin Short
These two legendary comedians have become famous to a whole new segment of the population through the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building.” Now, the two longtime friends and co-performers are headed to Pittsburgh for a two-night engagement at the Benedum Center.
Their show, “The Dukes of Funnytown,” involved fast-paced, hilarious jokes full of self-deprecation and charm. Both comedians have decades of experience with live comedy and with each other, so these masters will delight even the most skeptical audience member.
Performances will be held at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Benedum Center in Downtown Pittsburgh. Learn more and get tickets at trustarts.org.
