Robert Grimm, the long-time manager in North Fayette Township, addresses McCandless council after their unanimous vote to hire him as town manager on March 25, 2019.

McCandless council ended its search for a town manager March 25 with a unanimous vote to fill the town’s top administrative position with the long-time manager from North Fayette Township.

Robert Grimm, who has been the manger in North Fayette since May 1998, is scheduled to begin working in McCandless around April 8.

Before working in North Fayette, Grim worked stints as the manager in Beaver Falls, Bellevue, Fairmont, W.Va. and Oil City.

He is a 1982 graduate of Penn State University, where he earned a bachelor science degree. He continued his education in public administration at West Virginia University.

Grimm thanked council for their “confidence in my abilities” saying “I know I have my work cut out for me.”

“I look forward to getting to know the residents of the town, the council and the staff here and working alongside everybody,” he said.

Grimm said he has known retiring manager Toby Cordek for a number of years and praised him for the foundation he is leaving behind.

“I’ll do my best to work with all of you, build on what has been accomplished and to continue to enhance the quality of life here as well as continue the tradition of quality local government in McCandless.”

Cordek, who is in his 36th year as McCandless manager, announced last August that he was planning to retire and anticipated staying on until mid-January so officials had time to find a replacement.

Cordek plans to work with Grimm over the next several weeks to ensure a smooth transition.
