A fundraiser to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Jergel’s in Marshall Township in honor of Zachary Kass-Gerji, a Pine-Richland student who died last year from a rare form of brain cancer.

The family of a Pine-Richland High School student who died last spring following a 20-month long battle with a rare form of cancer is hosting a fundraiser in his name on Sunday at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Zachary Kass-Gerji died March 26, 2018 from a rare form of cancer called Alveolar Rhabsomyosarcoma.

His family selected Make-A-Wish because Kass-Gerji benefited from the program when he, his mother and his sister visited the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, where the teen had the opportunity to swim and learn about dolphins.

The first fundraiser the family held last year in Kass-Gerji’s honor raised $30,000 for Make-A-Wish.

This year’s “Zachary’s Wish for Make-a-Wish” will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. on April 7 at Jergel’s, 285 Northgate Drive.

The all-ages event will feature live music, a 50/50 raffle, Chinese auction and other activities.

Tickets cost $5 in advance and $10 at the door.
