The McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage Center is playing host to a program on June 12 titled “Voices from the Attic: The Williamstown Boys in the Civil War.”

The free 6:30 p.m. program will be presented by author Carleton Young, who will discuss his discovery of a trove of letters in his parents’ attic written by two soldiers during the Civil War.

Young spent more than a decade visiting battlefields and researching the two soldiers from Vermont. The material he gathered served as the basis for Young’s book “Voices from the Attic.”

the Heritage Center is located along Aufman Lane off Grubbs Road between McCandless Town Hall and the McCandless-Franklin Park Ambulance Authority.
