McCandless residents and local non-profit organizations can now spread the word about activities and events by posting information for free on the town’s website and a mobile communication’s app.

Town council on Jan. 28 approved a list of rules for posting announcements to the website and the Savvy Citizens mobile app.

Savvy Citizen is a free, direct-messaging application for smart phones the town launched in 2017 to provide information ranging from the holiday schedule for trash pick-up to road and bridge closings.

Some of the rules for posting to the town’s Community Calendar include:

• Events must conform to the Town of McCandless Statement of Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity.

• Activities must take place within the town’s boundaries for inclusion on the community calendar.

• Events must be submitted electronically by e-mail to: jbojarski@townofmccandless.org at least three weeks in advance.

• Event postings must include the date, time and location and address for the event along with a brief description.
