McCandless seeking GOP applicants to fill Ward 4 council vacancy
McCandless is seeking applicants from residents in Ward 4 who are interested in serving on town council through 2021.
The person appointed to the post will fill the unexpired term of Councilwoman Joan Powers, who resigned earlier this month because she is moving out of the area.
The town’s policy is to fill council vacancies with a person of the same political party as the member stepping down. Powers is a Republican.
State law requires council to fill the seat within 45 days. If no appointment is made, 10 registered voters in the municipality can petition the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County to fill the vacancy.
Applications for the Ward 4 seat are available online and must be returned along with a resume, letter of interest — or both — by noon on July 6.
The items can be emailed to administration@townofmccandless.org or sent to Town of McCandless, 9955 Grubbs Road, Wexford, PA 15090.
Council is planning to conduct interviews to fill the position at the July 13 meeting.
