McCandless set to kick off $1 million road paving program
Potholes beware — McCandless is coming for you.
The town is set to kick off its annual road paving program this week with nearly $1 million worth of work along 34 streets.
The $999,492 contract was awarded to Youngblood Paving of Wampum, Lawrence County, which was the lowest responsible bidder.
The streets selected for paving this year are part of the town’s 20-year road resurfacing plan, town manager Bob Grimm said when the contract was awarded.
The list of roads scheduled for paving each year is adjusted after being inspected, he said.
In addition to work being done by the town, Allegheny County announced that milling and paving along portions of Babcock Boulevard and Highland Road began on May 20 and is scheduled to continue through June 1.
Residents will receive a notice from the contractor 48 hours before work begins. Contractors paving state and county roads are not required to notify residents.
Milling and paving projects typically take two weeks to complete. Work begins each day at 7 a.m.
The town has additional information about the paving program on the McCandless and Me website.
