A free Narcan training and distribution will be held at Generosta Coffee and Cafe in Wexford on Nov. 25 from 9 a.m. to noon and from 5 to 8 p.m.

Generosta is located at 901 Warrendale Village Drive.

People can learn the signs of an overdose and how to administer the drug.

The event is sponsored by Stop the Judgement Project, a program created by Sherry Jo Matt and her husband, Tom Bott, of Franklin Park, when their daughter Siena Bott died from fentanyl poisoning at 21 in 2020.

The state Health Department issued an order Nov. 15 intended to ensure that Pennsylvanians at risk of experiencing an opioid-related overdose, or who are family members, friends or other persons who could help a person at risk of an opioid-related overdose are able to obtain Naloxone without a prescription.

It recommends becoming familiar with Naloxone with training. Narcan is a brand name of that drug.
