Ohio woman arrested after her 7-year-old son, the subject of an Amber Alert, located in Ross
An Ohio woman was arrested Sunday after Ross police said they found her 7-year-old son — who was the subject of an Amber Alert — injured and in the back of her car along William Street in the township.
Ross police said officers arrested Tiarika Baymon, 32, of Brunswick, Ohio.
Officers said they were notified of an Amber Alert out of Brunswick for a 7-year-old boy who was in Baymon’s custody and in “life-threatening danger.”
An arrest warrant was issued for Baymon, indicating the child had been abused, police said. Some of this was documented in a video that Baymon posted to Instagram.
The Brunswick Police Department and an Ohio FBI office believed Baymon to be near Avalon and Ross, police said. Officers from multiple communities responded to the area, and Ross police located Baymon’s car on William Street, off Union Avenue Extension.
Ross police approached the car and found Baymon asleep in the driver’s seat, with a gun on her lap, police said. The boy was lying on folded-down back seats leading into the trunk.
Police took the child to UPMC Children’s Hospital with multiple injuries and possible broken bones, police said.
Baymon was to be taken to the Allegheny County Jail.
Ross police said her charges in Pennsylvania include felony child endangerment, obstruction of justice, resisting arrest and carrying a firearm without a license.
