Part of Thompson Run Road in Ross closing for Jeff Daniels TV series filming
A section of Thompson Run Road in Ross will be shut down on Thursday for the filming of “Rust,” a Showtime series starring Jeff Daniels.
Fidelis Productions has secured a permit to close off a 1.2-mile section of the road between Babcock Boulevard and Vilsack Road from noon to 11:59 p.m.
Traffic will be detoured along Babcock Boulevard to Evergreen, Anderson and Vilsack roads.
Police officers will be on the scene for traffic control and to permit residents to leave and enter the area.
The series is based on Philipp Meyer’s 2009 novel “American Rust,” set in the fictional Mon Valley town of Buell, Fayette County.
Daniels stars as Del Harris, a police chief. Also starring are Maura Tierney and Bill Camp.
The series is expected to film throughout the region through mid-August and air later in 2021.
Scenes for the show recently were filmed at Don’s Diner, a fixture of Pittsburgh’s Woods Run neighborhood that has been used as a backdrop for several Hollywood productions, including the films “Warrior” and “American Pastoral” as well as the TV series “Mindhunter.”
