Physicist, minister receive North Hills 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award
The North Hills School District has honored two graduates — Dr. Robert Dimeo and the Rev. Kimberly Greway — with its 2019 Distinguished Alumni Award.
Following graduation from North Hills in 1987 Dimeo attended Penn State University where he earned a bachelor’s and doctorate degree in physics as well as a master’s degree in electrical engineering.
Dimeo is director of the Center for Neutron Research at the National Institute of Standards and Technology in Maryland.
Dimeo also is a noted author and lecturer and previously served as the assistant director for physical sciences and engineering at the Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Greway is a 1995 graduate of North Hills and earned a bachelor’s degree in French from Allegheny College. She earned her master of divinity degree from Duke University.
Greway has spent her career involved in humanitarian work. She served as a pastor in Dorset, UK, and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Zimbabwe where she helped found a community services organization called the Nyadire Connection.
Greway currently serves as executive director and chief operating officer for the Foundation of Hope, which provides jail inmates and ex-offenders with counseling, religious services, life skills education and mentoring.
She also is the director of chaplaincy services for the Allegheny County Jail and Shuman Juvenile Center.
