Christmas cookies can easily be stored in the freezer.

Here are some of the upcoming programs offered at Northland Public Library. Some of the virtual programs require registration online at northlandlibrary.org or by calling 412-366-8100. The library is located at 300 Cumberland Road in McCandless.

Registration and links for live streaming many of the programs for children can be done on Charlotte Fezziwig’s Facebook page at: facebook.com/charlotte.fezziwig.

• Chef Rob Holiday Cookie Workshop, Dec. 12, noon — Families can bake-along with chef Rob Holiday to make three different cookies with variations. No registration is required for the event, which will be conducted on Facebook.

A shopping list of ingredients will be available Dec. 1 at the Children and Teen Services desk.

• It’s a Hockey Night In Pittsburgh: 1983 to Today, Dec. 3, 7 p.m. — Staff from the Senator John Heinz History Center will trace Pittsburgh’s hockey history from its beginnings in Oakland to the Consol Energy Center. Registration is required for this virtual program. A Zoom link will be emailed the day before the program.

• Tour of Italy: Rome, Dec. 6, 11 a.m. — Marco Scapagnini will lead a virtual tour of Rome. Registration is required. A Zoom link will be emailed the week before the program.

• Hanukkah Storytime, Dec. 1, 10 a.m. — Celebrate Hanukkah with a half-hour of stories. No registration required.

• Crafty Elf at-home workshop, Dec. 14 — Crafty elves are invited to sign up for a take-home ornament kit designed for makers ages 5 and older. Registration for kits begins Dec. 1 on the library website’s Dec. 14 Event Calendar page. There is a $1 materials fee for each kit that is payable when they are picked up.

• Christmas Storytime, Dec. 18, 10 a.m. — Need a break from the holiday hubbub and hustle-bustle? Preschoolers and their families are invited to join us for stories, songs, and poems about the quieter side of Christmas. No registration required.

• Winter Wonderland Storytime, Dec. 23, 10 a.m. — All ages are welcome for holiday stories, rhymes and songs with Ms. Courtney. No registration is required.

• Surprise Book Gift — Teens ages 14 to 18 can sign up to receive a surprise book and some other goodies. Teens can sign up to receive a registration form for the gifts online at the Events Calendar page dated Dec. 14.
