Police investigate the scene of a fatal crash early Thursday morning at the intersection of Highland and Cornell avenues near the border between Ross and West View.

A woman was killed in a crash Thursday morning in West View, according to Allegheny County Police.

The woman who died was identified as Addalena Maiette, 19, of West View, by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner office.

The collision was reported at 6:10 a.m. at the intersection of Highland and Cornell avenues, not far from the border with Ross. Three vehicles were stopped on Highland Avenue when the third vehicle in line tried to pass the other two by going into oncoming traffic.

Police said the first vehicle in line simultaneously tried to make a left turn onto Cornell, resulting in the crash. Authorities have not been able to determine thus far which vehicle was trying to pass and which was attempting the turn because of the extensive damage to both.

A man driving the other vehicle involved in the crash was not hurt, police said.

Video provided to Trib news partner WTAE showed one vehicle on its side in the residential area. The crash was just west of Route 19.

Anyone with information is asked to call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS.
