Ross Township is auctioning off two former police motorcycles, with the proceeds benefiting the township.

The township is auctioning a 2014 Harley Davidson FLHTP former police motorcycle and a 2016 BMW R1200RT-P former police motorcycle.

The online auctions are open to the public and end on April 11. Pennsylvania residents can bid in the auction online, 24 hours a day, on Municibid.

Founded in 2006, Municibid serves more than 4,000 governments and schools across the country, who use the online auction site to auction off fire trucks, buses, ambulances, heavy machinery and other items.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the former police motorcycle auctions will go back into improving the Ross community. The funds can be used for things like road maintenance, local events for residents, community programs or public safety initiatives.

The 2014 Harley Davidson motorcycle has 29,592 miles on it. The motorcycle is being retired as part of normal fleet maintenance. It features a 103cu engine and includes emergency lighting, a siren controller and a Motorola UHF radio.

As of early Wednesday afternoon, there had been 14 bids, with a current bid of $10,000.

The 2016 BMW motorcycle has 24,879 miles on it and is also being retired as part of normal fleet service. It, too, includes emergency lights, a siren controller and a Motorola UHF radio.

The current bid as of early Wednesday afternoon was $6,8000. There had been 25 bids on the motorcycle so far.

The decals will be removed from both motorcycles before the sale.
