Vincentian Academy spring musical 'Annie' at Masonic Center starting Feb. 22

Students in the musical theater program at Vincentian Academy are in full rehearsals for their upcoming spring musical “Annie.”

Performances are scheduled for Feb. 22, 23, 24 and March 1 and 2 at the Masonic Center in Ross Township.

“It is remarkable to see the talent and enthusiasm we have at Vincentian as we adapt this beloved tale,” said Dan Kirk, who is in his first year as musical director. “There is a special feeling that comes through in this musical, and you experience it beautifully in their portrayals.”

The musical tells the story of a resilient girl who escapes from her miserable orphanage into 1930s New York City in search of her parents.

Principals actors for the show are:

• Annie: Julia Kampas

• Daddy Warbucks: Wray Jones

• Grace: Tessa Goldstein

• Miss Hannigan: Rileigh Very

The combined crew and cast for the presentation represents 25 percent of the school’s student body joining forces to bring the final production together.

“The Vincentian Academy family never ceases to amaze me,” said Rita Canton, principal and head of school. “These students impress and inspire me every day.”

Tickets cost $12 for evening performances and $10 to attend the matinee.

Tickets will be available online starting Jan. 27, at the ticket box office at Vincentian from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 8 and 15, and in the theater lobby prior to each show.

Show times and dates are: 7:30 p.m., Feb. 22, 23 and March 1, 2; 2 p.m., Feb. 24.

The Masonic Center is located at 3579 Masonic Way, off Cemetery Lane in Ross. The school is located at 8100 McKnight Road.
