West View considering proposal for development of 12 duplexes
A development of 12 duplexes is proposed for a wooded area off Rochester Road at the northwest tip of West View.
The borough’s planning commission will discuss the proposed “Lexington” development when it meets at 6 p.m. Thursday at the borough building, 441 Perry Highway.
A representative of the owner, shown on plans submitted to the borough as Lexington Pittsburgh LP, could not immediately be reached for comment.
The development is on about 10 acres adjacent to Cross Creek Court. In addition to the dozen duplex buildings, 24 units in total, the tentative plans include one single-family home on Cross Creek Court between two existing houses.
The duplexes would be built on land that is zoned for commercial use, where two-family residential is allowed as a conditional use, according to the plans. Cross Creek Court is zoned for residential.
About 5 acres of open space is shown behind the duplexes fronting on Rochester Road.
The duplexes and the single-family home would have two-car garages and two driveway parking spaces, exceeding parking requirements, according to the plans. Three visitor parking areas are shown for the duplexes.
