Programs at Northern Tier Regional Library, 4015 Dickey Road, Richland, include:

• Take-home Crafts, Tuesdays through Feb. 6. Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy a simple take-home craft each week. Call 724-449-2665 or register online at northerntierlibrary.org to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on Tuesdays and enjoyed at home.

• The Weekly Project, Tuesdays through Feb. 6, features a variety of activities like cooking, crafting, art, and STEM. Each week will showcase a different project for children to work on with their families. Call 724-449-2665 or register online at northerntierlibrary.org to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on Tuesdays and enjoyed at home.

• Maker Space Take-Home Kit. The library will offer a take-home kit featuring directions and materials to complete a craft from its maker space. Call 724-449-2665 or register online at northerntierlibrary.org to reserve a supply kit that can be picked up on Mondays and enjoyed at home:

Pinecone Owl, Jan. 8, create a wintry owl using a pine cone and craft materials. Mini Yarn Hat, Jan. 15, make a mini decorative beanie with yarn. Hologram projector, Jan. 29, create a simple hologram video to project from your phone.

• Baby Play Time, 11 a.m. Tuesdays through Feb. 6, featuring songs, finger plays, stories and rhymes.

The program is intended for babies up to age 18 months and will be held in the program room on the library’s main level. Siblings are welcome, and only one registration is required for the series of six play times.

• Family Story and Play Time, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays through Feb. 8 in the program room on the library’s main level, featuring songs and rhymes, books, and lots of movement.

The program is for toddlers, preschoolers, and their families. Registration is required, and only one registration is necessary for the series of six story times.

Families are encouraged to bring a blanket to sit on, but the floor is carpeted.

• PR Pokémon Club, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8. Bring your cards or games and join other Pokémon trainers at the library to trade and play together. Boards will be available for the card game, and a Pokémon-related project will be there to enjoy.

The event is self-directed and open to children, teens, and their families. Registration is required.

• Natureology: Birds, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 9. Discover more about birds with Tony Palermo at a program for children of all ages. Registration is required.

• American Girl Doll Winter Crafts, 5 to 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10, for ages 5 and older. The library’s resident dolls will be available to mingle throughout the program, and there will be a variety of do-it-yourself projects to tackle. Registration is required.

• Northern Tier Regional Library Chess Club, 5 to 6 p.m. Jan. 15. Practice chess skills and play against other kids in the community.

The library’s program room will be set up with chess sets and tables for families to meet and play a few rounds in an informal setting. This is a self-directed program for all ages, but the library requests registration.

• Discord Game Nights, 7 o’clock Jan. 12 (Jackbox) and Jan. 16 (Minecraft). Teens ages 13 to 18 are welcome to join the library’s Discord server for game nights.

• Maker Monday at Pine-Richland High School, 2:45 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22. Teens can use knotting techniques and craft materials to create a keychain.

• Trivia Time, 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 2. Test your expertise in all things love and romance at Northern Tier’s first trivia night. Compete in teams of two to four members to win a prize.

The program is 21-plus and BYOB. Tickets are $5 per person or $15 for a team of four, and payment is required upon registration.

• Technology Help, 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursdays through Jan. 31. One-on-one, 30-minute sessions focus on basic skills in using computers, smartphones, eReaders and more. Registration is required.

• A Great Deal: Game Group, 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays on the library’s lower level.

Currently offered are pinochle on Tuesdays and American mahjong on Wednesdays, but additional games may follow. Registration is requested.

• Conversation Group, 1 to 3 p.m. Jan. 11 on the library’s lower level.

The group is a place to share ideas and hear what others have to say. Spirited conversation is guaranteed. For more information, email cdstorrs@gmail.com.

• Knit Lit, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 17. Knitters, crocheters and yarn art enthusiasts are welcome to meet on the lower level of the library.

If you’re working on a project, bring it along with you. Talk about life, books, and those craft projects you’re always working on but may never finish.

Registration is required.

• Nonfiction Book Discussion, “Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire” by Lizzie Johnson, 1 p.m. Jan. 16.

As a reporter for the San Francisco Chronicle, Johnson on the scene as the town of Paradise, Calif., burned in the Camp Fire of November 2018. She stayed long afterward, visiting shelters, hotels and makeshift camps.

Drawing on years of reporting and reams of public records, including 911 calls and testimony from a grand jury investigation, Johnson provides an account of the Camp Fire, following residents and first responders as they fight to save themselves and their town.

Library programming at the Pine Community Center, 100 Pine Park Drive, includes:

• American Mahjong, 11: 45 a.m. Jan. 15.

• The Pine Needles, 4 p.m. Jan. 16 and 30. Beginners can learn how to knit or crochet. Experienced crafters are welcome to bring a project on which to work. Registration is requested.

• Family Story Time, 1 p.m. Jan. 5 and 19. Sing, move, read books, and practice rhymes.

The program is for children of all ages. Registration is required.
