Northland Public Library is located at 300 Cumberland Road in McCandless.

Masks must be worn at all times by everyone in the Children and Teen Services department and for all indoor programs. A number of upcoming in-person and virtual programs are offered — registration is required where noted by visiting northlandlibrary.org or calling 412-366-8100 x113.

Teen Maker Mondays

Kits available

Let’s get making! Tweens and teens ages 12 to 18 can pick up a project to make at home. The library gives you the supplies and instructions, and you get creating! Kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis as supplies last. Pick up a kit at the Children and Teen Services desk.

Wise Walk — an 8-week walking program

Continues 8:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 19, 26

Meet each Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Pie Traynor Field to walk together and enjoy the fall weather. Water will be provided each week. No registration is required.

Terrifying Tales by the Fire

7 p.m. Oct. 15 at Altmyer Barn in Altmyer Park

Have you ever experienced the fear of staying in a haunted house? Are you convinced you’ve had a close encounter with a ghost or spirit? Whether it’s true or you’ve heard it from a friend of a friend, bring your spooky and scary tales and join the library at the Altmyer Barn in Altmyer Park. Local author Thomas White also will share some terrifying local stories. Have a creepy story but don’t want to tell it yourself? Email it to colemank2@einetwork.net.

Preparing for the fall

6:30 p.m. Oct. 18

As leaves and snow fall all around us, UPMC Centers for Rehab Services would like to make sure you don’t fall with them! Join physical therapists Dana Smithnosky and Tracy Spitz on how to stay safe in the fall and winter months. You will have an opportunity to meet with two neurological therapists as they provide tips and insight on how to get the most out of the holiday season while not limiting your activities. Registration is required.
