Seventeen artists received ribbons and a monetary award as winners for their entries in the Norwin Art League’s 49th Annual Art Exhibit last month.
Several of the artists were winners in multiple categories in the contest judged by Jeffrey Jarzynka, owner of Jarzynka Gallery in Pittsburgh.
The contests attracted 120 entries, said Cara Zanella, president of the Norwin Art League.
The following artists received awards:
• Best in Show: Manjushree Roy for “A Radiance Within Chaos” (Oil).
• People’s Choice: Laura Bell for “Howl of a Dog” (Oil).
• Advance Division (Oils & Acrylics): 1st Place: Laura Bell for “My Chickee” (Oil); 2nd Place: Manjushree Roy for “Is this still Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood?” (Oil).
• Advance Division (Watercolor & Mixed Media): 1st Place: Judy Hussein for “My Favorite Ladies” (Mixed Media); 2nd Place: Loretta Romanchak for “Waterfalls” (Mixed Media); Honorable Mention: Loretta Romanchak for “Reni & Shea” (Mixed Media).
• Intermediate Division (Oils & Acrylics): 1st Place: Mary Lonzo for “Gionni’s Road Trip” (Oil); Honorable Mention: Pat Miller for “The Historical House of Lincoln Hills” (Oil).
• Intermediate Division (Watercolor): 1st Place: David Kovalcik for “Animas Forks” (Watercolor); 2nd Place: Henry Ereth for “Barn” (Watercolor).
• Intermediate Division (Mixed Media): 1st Place: Robert Zanella for “Out of Space” (Mixed Media).
• Miniature (6x6): 1st Place: Lois Stepansky for “Holiday Party” (Watercolor), 2nd Place: Pat Miller for “Red Barn” (Watercolor).
• Advance Adult Student (All Media): 1st Place: Paulette Weiss for “Apple Blossoms” (Watercolor) and Allison Gefert for “Grapefruit” (Watercolor); 2nd Place: Allison Gefert for “Ready to Bake” (Watercolor).
• Beginner Adult Student (All Media): 1st Place: Lois Stepansky for “Koi Fish” (Watercolor).
• High School (All Media): 1st Place: Charlotte Landis for “Pomegranate” (Watercolor); Honorable Mention: Caleigh Barnhart for “Virgil van Dijk” (Mixed Media) and Audry Danchisko for “The Storytelling Barbs” (Mixed Media).
•Photography: 1st Place: Dr. Keith Szekely for “Tunnel Vision” (Photography); 2nd Place: Mary Lou Mace for “Nepethen” (Photography).
