Collectibles convention set for Irwin
Vendors and collectors who want to sell or display their items can do so at a mini-convention for collectors and admirers from noon to 5 p.m. July 11 at the Shidle Lodge, 417 Main St., Irwin.
The Collectible and Retro Lovers convention, nicknamed CARLcon, will feature various collectibles items — vintage baseball cards, Golden Age comic books, Coca-Cola, The Beatles, Star Trek, Star Wars and Lionel trains.
The deadline for registering and paying to be a selling vendor or a displaying collector is June 18. Those interested should send identification information, including phone number and email address, to irwin1864@gmail.com. Vendors also can send a message on Facebook at CARLcon 2021.
Those registering will receive a form to complete and return with a check by June 18.
Collectors will discuss the grading condition of items and how to identify fakes collectibles.
Among the activities planned during the convention are:
• “Baby Yoda Baby Contest” — dress up your child as Baby Yoda, have a retro Polaroid instant photo taken and vote.
• “Cosplay Contest” — dress up as your favorite character and enter a prize drawing.
• Chinese basket auction with baskets that include collectibles.
• M&M Crazy Flavors Tasting Contest — vote for your favorite flavor.
