Several events planned in downtown Irwin

Irwin will host multiple events activities this week.

A Fall Appreciation Car Cruise will begin at 4 p.m. Sept. 15 along Main Street. In addition to Main Street being closed, the Third Street, Fourth Street and Fifth Street parking lots will be closed, as well as spaces by the Fourth Street Arch. Food trucks will be at the car cruise.

The is no entry fee, said organizer Gary Ed, but participating vehicle owners are being asked to bring a nonperishable donation for the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

More than 50 crafters and vendors are expected to attend a craft and vendor show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 17 in downtown Irwin.

The same day, the Norwin Historical Society is holding its Antiques on Main event featuring about 20 dealers along Main Street from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., said Rich Siniawski, coordinator for the event.

Finally, Sing for Their Supper — featuring singers and those who want to hone their skills — can sing along with a karaoke machine from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 17 under the Fourth Street Arch.

Those who want to participate are asked to donate a nonperishable item or donation to the Westmoreland County Food Bank.

Church plans spaghetti dinner on Sept. 22

The First United Church of Christ, 400 Main St., Irwin, will hold a spaghetti dinner from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 22.

Meals are $10 for adults and $5 for children and include spaghetti and meat balls, salad, bread, beverage and dessert.

Herminie to hold car, bike, truck show

A car, motorcycle and truck show will be held along Sewickley Avenue, Herminie, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17.

The event will feature entertainment by a disc jockey, food trucks, craft vendors and an auction of baskets. Sewickley Avenue will be closed to traffic.

There will be a $10 registration fee. Dash plaques will be provided to entrants and trophies will be awarded.

Military Food Share registration is underway

The Norwin Elks, 135 Elks Lane, Manor, will host a Military Food Share program from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 13.

All Westmoreland County veterans and active duty military, including National Guard and Reserve personnel, are eligible to participate.

Working with the Westmoreland Food Bank, the distribution is limited to the first 120 veterans who preregister no later than Sept. 29 by calling the Pennsylvania National Guard Family Program at 717-836-4903.
