Collectibles sale features cosplay contest
Irwin will be the site of a convention for sellers and buyers of collectibles from noon to 4 p.m. July 10 at the Shidle Hall, 417 Main St.
The CARLcon has attracted vendors with vintage baseball cards, comic books, old pop bottles, Star Trek and Star Wars memorabilia and vintage Lionel trains.
Collectibles fans can participate in a cosplay contest, during which they can dress up as their favorite character and enter a prize drawing. A Star Wars fan group and a Love Bug car reproduction will be on display. An auction will feature baskets that include collectibles.
Admission is $5 per person at the door or by visiting the website EventBrite – CARLcon. To purchase admission Tickets, go to EventBrite or send email to irwin1864@gmail.com Food and drinks will be sold.

Norwin library plans butterfly program
A program on attracting butterflies in gardens will be presented at 6 p.m. July 7 at the Norwin Public Library community room, Caruthers Lane, Irwin.
Penn State master gardener Patti Schildkamp will provide information on five different native butterflies. The program is for those age 13 and older.
Those interested in attending should register at the front desk or call the library at 724-863-4700, ext. 3.
Norwin soccer team plans camp for kids
Registration is open for the Norwin High School boys soccer team’s camp for children ages 4 to 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 8 -11 at the Turner Valley Soccer Complex, 3700 Turner Valley Road, North Huntingdon.
The registration fee is $30 and provides players with a T-shirt. Registration after July 9 will be $35. To guarantee a shirt, register by July 16. Onsite registration is available, but shirts are not guaranteed.
The proceeds will benefit the Norwin High School boys soccer team.

Community festival planned by St. Regis Parish
A community festival will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. July 22 and 23 at St. Regis Parish, 517 Homewood Ave., Trafford
The two-day event will feature food, basket raffles, games, entertainment by the Music and Memories disc jockey and a Kona ice truck.
