St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church to hold craft, vendor show

A holiday craft and vendor show will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 2 at Mack Hall at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 200 Leger Road, North Huntingdon.

There will be about 40 tables of area crafters and vendors. There will be auction baskets, a raffle and concession stand.

Admission is free. The proceeds from this event benefit the church’s senior youth ministry. For more information, call 724-864-6364.

Norwin library to hold book sale

The Friends of the Norwin Public Library at 100 Caruthers Lane, Irwin, will hold a “Buy the Bag” used book sale from Oct. 13 through 16 during regular library hours.

Book lovers may purchase a brown grocery bag at the door for $5 and fill it with books.

All proceeds will benefit the Norwin Public Library.

Masks are required at the sale and there may be time limits to browsing.

Stewartsville Lions to sell barbecue chicken

The Stewartsville Lions Club will hold its end-of-season barbecue chicken sale on Sept. 26 at Holiday Travel, across from the Norwin Towne Square along Route 30, North Huntingdon.

The sale begins at 11 a.m. and will continue until sellout. The meals are $8 and consist of a half chicken, apple sauce, roll, dessert and beverage.

Customers are asked to remain in their vehicles for curbside order and delivery.

Sheetz sells $3.74 million lottery ticket

A jackpot Match 6 Lotto ticket worth $3.74 million was sold Sept. 12 at a Sheetz store in North Huntingdon, state lottery officials announced.

The ticket was bought at the convenience store location on Ronda Court, near the Walmart along Route 30.

The ticket matched all six winning numbers, 22-28-36-37-46-49. The store owner earns a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

Anyone holding the jackpot ticket should sign it, call lottery officials at 1-800-692-7481 or visit palottery.com to find out how to claim the prize.

Come, Talk to hold creative writing classes

Come, Talk Inc. of Irwin, an initiative dedicated to improving mental health and suicide prevention, will hold creative writing classes on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at its office inside the Norwin Chamber of Commerce, 321 Main St., Irwin.

The classes are open to teens and adults. Drinks and a snack will be provided. Bring a journal or notebook and pen or pencil. Please RSVP by the day before the class. Walk-ins welcome if seats are available.

Man inducted to martial arts hall of fame

John Morgart Jr. of North Huntingdon, a 4th Degree Black Belt (Master) and founder of Wei Son Do Martial Arts, recently received an award for “The Founder of The Year” and has been inducted into The International Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Morgart has studied different styles of martial arts including Tang Soo Do, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, Jujitsu, Hapkido, Kickboxing, Krav Maga and Chun Kuk Do/ The United Fighting Arts Federation under the direction and guidance of Grandmaster Chuck Norris and The United Fighting Arts Federation.
