Norwin area: Drug takeback, flea market, trivia night, more

North Huntingdon police takeback program

The North Huntingdon police will hold a drug takeback program from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 30 in the lobby of the police station, 11279 Center Highway.

Police will accept unused and outdated drugs, but not EpiPens or syringes. Cremes and liquids should be placed in a sealed plastic bag.

The program is part of a national effort by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. Detective Tom Harris said the DEA will collect the discarded medications for proper disposal.

Irwin church plans flea market

The First United Church of Christ, 400 Main St., Irwin, will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 6 and from 9 a.m. to noon May 7.

Cookies will be sold. On May 7, a bag of clothes and shoes will cost $1 and all other items will be sold at 50% off.

Norwin library hosts Trivia Night

The Norwin Public Library on Caruthers Lane will hold a trivia night at 6:30 p.m. April 28.

Contestants will be challenged to answer 50 general knowledge questions, and can create a team or join one.

The program is free, but registration is requested. Contact the library at 724-863-4700, ext. 3.

Irwin church group plans card party

The Christian Mothers/Women’s Guild of Immaculate Conception Parish, 308 Second St., Irwin, will hold a card party with basket raffles at 6 p.m. May 19, in Our Lady’s Plaza.

A light dinner will be served. Guests can bring their own cards or games. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased at the parish office by calling 724-863-9550.
