Irwin Boy Scouts sell pies, luminaria

Boy Scout Troop 284 of Irwin is selling Pie Shoppe pies for Thanksgiving and luminaria for Christmas.

The deadline for ordering pies is Nov. 14 and drive-thru pickup will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin, Main Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, between 4 and 6 p.m. Nov. 25.

The deadline for luminaria orders is Nov. 28. Delivery is Dec. 19.

Mail orders should be sent to Boy Scout Troop 284, 1670 Craig Drive, North Huntingdon, PA 15642.

Irwin Light-Up Night slated

The annual Light-Up Night Norwin in downtown Irwin will be held Nov. 19.

The Christmas tree on Main Street will be lit at 6:20 p.m., followed by the parade on Main Street.

There will be activities at The Lamp Theatre on Main Street; Santa Claus will be at the Third Street parking lot near the Christmas tree after leading the parade.

Food trucks will be parked throughout the area.

Historical Society house tour goes virtual

The Norwin Historical Society’s annual Holiday House Tour is going virtual for its 25th anniversary because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The virtual tour can be viewed online Dec. 5 and 6 through a link and password from the historical society’s website, said Geralyn DeFelice, historical society member.

There will be watch party from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Greenhouse Winery near Rillton. The event includes dinner, wine tasting and an opportunity to win gift baskets and a spa package

Those interested in attending can register at the Norwin Chamber of Commerce on Main Street, Irwin; Norwin Public Library on Caruthers Lane, Irwin; or online at www.norwinhistoricalsociety.org.

Herminie plans rifle sight-in event

The Herminie No. 2 Game Association will hold its annual “Rifle Sight-In Day” from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 15 at the game association grounds, Cody Road, Sewickley Township.

The public is welcome and the fee will be $1 for gun for club members and $2 for non-members.

Club members will be available to provide assistance including bore-sighting and a lead-sled — a weight-reducing shooting rest — if needed. Sand bag rests and targets will be provided.
