‘Christmas Tree Tour ‘set for Irwin

Irwin’s business organization is planning to replace its annual holiday Cookie Tour with a two-day Festival of Lights Christmas Tree Tour because of covid-19 restrictions.

Decorated trees will be in stores in downtown Irwin and available for viewing from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 4 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 5.

Each participating store will pair with a charity for the competition, according to the Irwin Business & Professional Association, event sponsor.

“Votes” for the best tree will be based on donations placed in collection containers by visitors and customers. The charities will collect all proceeds .

North Huntingdon board member resigns

A longtime member of the North Huntingdon Township Parks and Recreation Board has resigned.

The Norwin School Board accepted Sanford Bendix’s resignation from the panel at its Nov. 16 meeting.

Bendix is one of two school district representatives on the recreation board and was the member who would report on the parks and recreation activities.

Bendix’s five-year term expires in December.

West Newton Library plans Christmas party

The West Newton Library will hold a Christmas Party Dec. 5, featuring the movie “Frozen 2” from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Le Grande Ballroom, 105 S. Second St., West Newton, for children ages two to 8.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.
