Harff light show returns
The Harff Musical Christmas Light Show has returned for its 16th year at 1907 Bernice Drive in the Markvue Manor neighborhood of North Huntingdon, featuring 22 songs programmed to lights on the family’s property.
Programmed by Tim Harff, the display is illuminated from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday through Jan. 1.
Donations will be accepted for the North Huntingdon nonprofit Jamie’s Dream Team, which fulfills the wishes of ill children. More information can be found at jamiesdreamteam.org.

Breakfast with Santa at fire department
A pancake breakfast with Santa Claus and the Grinch is planned for 9 a.m. to noon Dec. 19 at the Harford Heights Volunteer Fire Department on Route 30, North Huntingdon.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children ages 5 to 12. Children age 4 and younger eat for free. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
There will be a special gift for children at the event.
Police officers hired, public works employee sought
Irwin Borough has hired two part-time police officers and will advertise for a part-time public works employee.
Council approved the hiring of Erik Berg and Stephen Novotnak, both at a rate of $22.88 per hour, as set by the contract with the borough police.
Council also authorized Shari Martino, borough manager, to advertise for a part-time public works employee, starting at a rate of $15 per hour.
