Norwin students to hold Easter egg hunt

Youngsters will be able to hunt for more than 8,000 eggs at the Easter Egg Hunt at Norwin High School stadium that will start at 10 a.m. April 1.

The Norwin High School Student Council is sponsoring the event, which costs $5 per child. Participants should park in the middle school parking lot and use the student entrance to the stadium.

Only 400 pre-event tickets will be sold. To order tickets, go to norwinsd.hometownticketing.com/embed/event/.

Bags of treats will be provided for the egg hunters.

Immaculate Conception Church to hold Easter egg hunt

Immaculate Conception Church at 308 Second St., Irwin, will hold an Easter egg hunt for children ages 2 to 10 on April 8, following the blessing of the Easter baskets at 11 a.m.

Snacks and drinks will be provided in the lower parking lot.

In the case of rain, the event will be cancelled.

Norwin library to hold used book sale

The Friends of the Norwin Public Library will host a book sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 5 in the lower level of the library at 100 Caruthers Lane, Irwin.

Those interested in going to the book sale should enter the library from the lower level parking lot.

North Huntingdon makes appointments

The North Huntingdon commissioners have appointed two residents to serve on township boards and a state-related agency.

The commissioners on March 15 appointed Susan Casper to the civil service commission for a six-year term, retroactive to Jan. 1.

Brian Crow was appointed to the zoning hearing board for a five-year term.

Alan Harff, a member of the Circleville Volunteer Fire Department, will be sponsored by the township to participate as a member of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Emergency Response Group. Harff told the commissioners recently that he will be a driver for the emergency response team, since he has a commercial driver’s license.

West Newton Library seeks jewelry donations

The West Newton Library is accepting jewelry donations for its Jewelry and Book sale to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 6 at the library at 124 N. Water St.

Costume, estate sale and precious jewelry, rings, bracelets , pins, earrings, can be dropped off during regular library hours from noon to 5 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.

The book sale will be conducted in the library parking lot. Donations for the sale will be accepted until the day of sale. In case of rain, the sale will be held May 13.
