Barbara Komondor of North Huntingdon is scheduled to compete in the national Mrs. All-Star United States 2021 pageant on July 31 in Savannah, Ga.

Komondor will be representing Pennsylvania in the pageant and will present her platform, “That Special Touch,” which is focused on recognizing individuals and groups who help others by doing what needs to be done. Komondor is accepting applications from those who would like to recognize individuals and groups so they may obtain what they need to continue helping people.

John Morgart Jr. of Irwin, a 4th Degree Black Belt (Master) and the founder of Wei Son Do Martial Arts, recently received an award for “The Founder of The Year” and has been inducted into The International Martial Arts Hall of Fame.

Michael J. Bartolac of North Huntingdon earned his osteopathic medicine degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and will undergo psychiatry residency training with Charleston Area Medical Center/West Virginia University in Charleston.

He received the Dr. Samuel and Ellen Garloff Excellence in Psychiatry Award, which is presented to a member of LECOM’s graduating class who has upheld the ideals of the profession and demonstrated a desire to practice in the field.

Cameron Hook of North Huntingdon attended Aviation Challenge Mach I at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, home of Space Camp. The Rocket Center is a Smithsonian Affiliate and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center’s Official Visitor Center.

The week-long educational program promotes science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), while training students and with hands-on activities and missions based on teamwork, leadership and problem solving.
