Ardara church will hold soup sale

The Ardara United Presbyterian Church, 3380 Nehrig Hill Road, will hold a soup sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 25.

A quart of soup is $5. Varieties will include vegetable, cream of potato, cream of rice, stuffed pepper, potato cauliflower, wedding, chicken noodle, cream of broccoli and ham and bean.

Homemade bread and baked goods will be available.

Animal Safe Haven sets fundraiser

The White Oak Animal Safe Haven will hold a “Fido Food Truck Fest” from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 25 at the White Oak Volunteer Fire Department No. 1, 1130 California Ave., featuring food trucks, desserts, drinks and raffle baskets to raise money for the nonprofit.

Inside seating will be available.

Irwin to hold civil service test

Irwin Borough is seeking candidates for full time police officer.

Council on Sept. 8 authorized the civil service commission to hold a police officer examination to build the list of possible candidates.

Chief Dan Wensel said the department is not seeking a full-time officer at this time, but wanted to have the list of candidates available.

Those interested in applying must pay $50 for the examination.
