Oakmont Borough Council will be hosting a public hearing on Dec. 18 to discuss the conditional use of the proposed site for Local Remedy Brewing.

If approved, the microbrewery will take the previous site of the Oakmont Bakery on Allegheny Avenue.

According to borough solicitor Kate Diersen, conditional use is a type of permitted use.

“A lot of times it’s a use that is going to have a little bit of an extra impact,” Diersen said. “It gets an additional review.”

The use can be granted if the hearing is successful for the prospective owners and council votes in favor.

Diersen said that a resident has already sent in a letter of opposition against plans for the brewery to progress further. The meeting will allow residents to weigh in with thoughts and opinions for the council to consider.

“Anybody who has any concerns is welcome to attend that public meeting,” she said.
