Oakmont has a new mayor, council president, vice president and some new council members.

Sophia Facaros was sworn in as mayor by notary Jill Springer at a meeting Monday night.

Facaros then swore in incumbent Councilman John Arnold and newcomers Tracey Holst, Jamie Leonardi and Amanda Pagnotta.

Lindsay Osterhout was voted in by her colleagues as president and Nancy Ride as vice president.

The reorganization meeting was posted on the borough’s YouTube page.

“Thank you for your confidence,” Osterhout said. “I think together over these next two years we can work as a team. With each other us educating ourselves on the issues, and thinking about what it is that’s best for the community, I think we’ll have a positive experience. I’m always here for any questions or talking, same as any of us are.”

Huntingdon Bank, PNC Bank and Citizens Bank were named depositories for borough accounts.

Council approved retaining its borough manager, secretary, solicitor, engineer and other employees.

Council also accepted Facaros’ resignation from council.

She was elected to council in 2019 and as mayor this past November. She decided to accept her mayoral position instead of serving out the remaining two years on council.

Applications for the council vacancy will be accepted through noon on Friday, Jan 14.
