The body of a man found in a fire-damaged building in Pittsburgh’s Sheraden neighborhood Sunday afternoon has been identified.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office on Wednesday reported the deceased to be Moussa Traore, 73, of Sheraden.

The fire started just after midnight Saturday in the building in the 700 block of Hillsboro Street. Fire crews arrived to find flames coming from the second floor.

The fire rekindled twice soon afterward, at 4:45 and 7:20 a.m.

The incident has become an arson investigation, according to the medical examiner’s report.

The building is a commercial property adapted for residential use, Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman Eliza Durham said.

As they worked to put the blaze out, part of the building collapsed, with the roof and third floor falling into the second floor, according to Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire officials.

The city’s Department of Permits, Licenses and Inspections awarded a contract for the emergency demolition of the building. Recovery efforts started at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Traore’s body was found around 2:45 p.m., Durham said. The investigation is ongoing.
