Overnight closures of Andy Warhol Bridge end; work on Clemente underway
Overnight closures of the Andy Warhol Bridge have ended, Allegheny County officials said Tuesday.
The closures, which began in late April, allowed for crews to install an enhanced lighting system on the span.
There will be periodic single-lane closures during the day on the Andy Warhol and Rachel Carson bridges for additional lighting work through October, officials said. Drivers can expect to see short stoppages at work zones with flaggers controlling traffic.
Most of the enhanced lighting work on the Rachel Carson Bridge was completed between December and April.
Similar work on the Roberto Clemente Bridge is now underway. That structure is currently closed for rehabilitation work and is expected to reopen in December.
Pittsburgh-based Mosites Construction Company and Kentucky-based electrical subcontractor Thoroughbred Construction Group are completing the work. It’s part of a $34.4 million Roberto Clemente Bridge rehabilitation project contract.
