A tractor-trailer crashed early Tuesday morning on southbound Interstate 279, closing down one lane of traffic and causing backups as crews work to clear the scene.

According to Tribune-News news partner WPXI, the trailer turned over on its side on the Mt. Nebo Road overpass and the cab separated from the trailer.

Officials said the crashed occurred around 3:20 a.m.

The right lane of southbound I-279 has closed at mile market 10.7 in Ohio Township as a result of the crash. The left lane remains open.

As of 6 a.m., Mt. Nebo Road was open to traffic below the crash, but WPXI reports the trailer was carrying peat moss and said Mt. Nebo Road may need to close to clear any moss that may fall onto the road.

No injuries were reported.
